Daudi Jjingo

Daudi Jjingo is a Ugandan bioinformatics researcher, Senior Scientist and Lecturer at Makerere University, and Director of the African Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Data Intensive Sciences at the Infectious Diseases Institute. His work focuses on computational platforms for biomedical research, including TB/HIV molecular epidemiology, cancer epigenetics, genomics, health informatics, and applied AI in bioinformatics.

In a Google DeepMind source, he describes using tools including AlphaFold and AlphaGenome to narrow 15,000 possible sites in a highly expressed breast-cancer protein to 15 candidates for lab validation, a step he says could eventually support vaccine development.
